Training:

Basic Expedition Leader Award (BELA)

13th – 16th Feb 2010 Based at Grendon with 2 evening sessions
20th – 21st Mar 2010 Based at Grendon with one over night
8th – 11th Apr 2010 2 days at Grendon, 2 Days assessment at Long Mind with overnight.


The BELA is a 10 day course, which on completion the leader will be qualified to take up to 14 young people on expedition in local and familiar lowland country. The course includes:
-Understanding Leadership
- Instructional Methods
- Planning and Preparation
- Conservation and Access
- Basic Navigation
- Appropriate Equipment
- Overnight Camp/ camp craft
- 4hour First aid
- Fitness and Weather conditions
- Demonstration of Leadership

We are able to offer a partial refund scheme that is reliant on the leader completing the BELA award and also helping on County expeditions.

Canoe Trainig

- A canoe course being held through the winter months to get leaders up to the level 1 and 2 UKCC coach. This is to encourage leaders to use canoeing as a Skill for their groups and also expanding the options for expeditions.
